1. About Halverin and the Nature of Our Programmes
Halverin operates reading workshops and discussion circles on household money language for adults aged 40 and above. All programmes are educational in scope. They are designed to develop familiarity with language, vocabulary, and conversational frameworks commonly used in household financial discussions.
Halverin does not hold a capital markets services licence, a financial adviser's licence, or any other licence authorising the provision of financial advisory services, investment advice, or regulated financial services under the Financial Advisers Act or the Securities and Futures Act of Singapore.
Nothing in any Halverin programme, material, facilitated discussion, or communication from Halverin constitutes financial advice, investment recommendation, or a regulated financial service. Participants should seek advice from qualified professionals for matters relating to their personal financial circumstances.
2. Enrolment and Acceptance
Enrolment in a Halverin programme begins with submission of an enquiry form or a direct written request. A place is not reserved until Halverin has confirmed availability in writing and the applicable programme fee has been received in full.
Halverin reserves the right to decline any enrolment enquiry at its discretion. Where an enquiry cannot be accommodated, any payment received will be returned in full within five working days.
Participants confirm, upon enrolment, that they have read and understood these terms and that they accept them as governing the relationship between the participant and Halverin.
3. Fees and Payment
Programme fees are as stated at the time of enquiry. Current fees for the three programmes are as follows:
- Mid-Life Money Mapping Reading Workshop
S$210 per participant, inclusive of clothbound workbook and household reference card. - Family Conversation Frameworks Reading Programme
S$870 per participant, inclusive of clothbound reading binder, conversation cards, and peer discussion notebook. - Retirement Vocabulary Reading Circle
S$135 per participant, inclusive of glossary, weekly worksheets, and peer discussion notebook.
All fees are quoted in Singapore Dollars and include the cost of physical materials. Fees do not include travel to the studio premises. Payment is required in full at the time of enrolment confirmation. Payment details will be provided in the enrolment confirmation.
Programme fees are not subject to Goods and Services Tax at this time. Should the regulatory position change, participants will be informed prior to any applicable cohort date.
4. Cancellation by Participant
Halverin understands that circumstances change. The following cancellation terms apply:
- Cancellation 14 or more days before the first session
A full refund of the programme fee will be issued, less an administrative charge of S$25 to cover processing and materials preparation costs. - Cancellation 7 to 13 days before the first session
A credit to the value of 50% of the programme fee will be issued. The credit may be applied to any future Halverin programme within 12 months of the cancellation date. - Cancellation fewer than 7 days before the first session
No refund or credit will be issued. Physical materials already prepared and dispatched will not be recalled.
Cancellations must be communicated in writing to [email protected]. The date of receipt of the written cancellation is used to determine the applicable tier. Halverin will acknowledge cancellations within two working days.
5. Cancellation or Rescheduling by Halverin
Halverin reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a programme if enrolment numbers do not meet the minimum required cohort size, or due to circumstances outside Halverin's reasonable control, including facilitator unavailability, venue access issues, or public health directives.
Where Halverin cancels a programme prior to commencement, enrolled participants will receive a full refund of the programme fee, or the option to transfer their enrolment to the next available cohort at no additional charge.
Where a session within an ongoing programme is cancelled by Halverin, the session will be rescheduled at a mutually agreed time. Halverin will not refund a partial session fee for a single rescheduled session within an otherwise continuing programme.
6. Programme Materials
Physical materials are prepared specifically for each enrolled participant and cohort. Materials are included in the programme fee and are made available at or before the first session unless otherwise stated.
Pre-reading materials, where applicable, will be distributed via email in the week preceding each session. Participants are encouraged to read the distributed material before each meeting. The reading circle format relies on participants arriving having engaged with the pre-distributed text.
All written materials remain the intellectual property of Halverin. Participants may use materials for their own personal reference and reflection. Materials may not be reproduced, shared, or distributed in any form without the prior written consent of Halverin.
7. Participant Conduct
Halverin programmes operate as small, discussion-based cohorts. The quality of the experience depends on the considered participation of all members. Halverin asks that participants:
- Arrive at sessions on time and prepared, having engaged with any pre-distributed reading material.
- Treat fellow participants and facilitators with respect throughout all sessions.
- Keep the personal details and contributions of other participants confidential beyond the session setting.
- Refrain from recording sessions without the prior written consent of Halverin and all participants present.
- Engage with discussions in the spirit of shared learning rather than personal advocacy for specific financial products, services, or providers.
Halverin reserves the right to ask any participant to leave a programme if their conduct is considered disruptive or harmful to others in the cohort. In such circumstances, no refund will be issued. Halverin will exercise this provision with care and only where it is considered genuinely necessary.
8. Educational Scope and Limitations
All Halverin programmes are educational reading and discussion experiences. They are designed to build vocabulary, conceptual familiarity, and conversational confidence in relation to household money topics. They do not offer, imply, or substitute for:
- Financial planning advice or investment recommendations of any kind.
- Legal, accounting, or tax advice.
- Advice on specific financial products, insurance instruments, or pension arrangements.
- Counselling, mediation, or therapeutic services.
- Any outcome, financial or otherwise, for any participant.
Halverin facilitators will not give personal financial recommendations, refer participants to specific products or product providers, or respond to requests for personal financial guidance. Participants with questions of this nature are encouraged to consult a licenced financial adviser.
9. Intellectual Property
All programme content, reading materials, workbooks, conversation card frameworks, discussion guides, and facilitation methods developed by Halverin are the intellectual property of Halverin. They may not be reproduced, adapted, or communicated to any third party without prior written permission.
The Halverin name and visual identity are proprietary. Participants and third parties may not use the Halverin name, logo, or programme titles in any public communication, marketing material, or online content without express written authorisation from Halverin.
10. Limitation of Liability
Halverin's programmes are provided as educational experiences. Halverin does not make any representation as to the usefulness, applicability, or suitability of programme content to any individual participant's circumstances.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Halverin's total liability to any participant arising out of or in connection with a programme shall not exceed the fee paid by that participant for that programme.
Halverin is not responsible for any loss or consequence arising from a participant's application of concepts encountered in the programme to their personal circumstances. Participants are solely responsible for their own financial decisions.
11. Personal Data
Halverin processes personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (Singapore). The collection, use, and retention of personal data provided in connection with enrolment is described in Halverin's Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms by reference. Participants are asked to read the Privacy Policy before completing their enrolment.
12. Changes to These Terms
Halverin may update these terms from time to time. The version current at the time of enrolment is the version that governs that enrolment. Where material changes are made, Halverin will provide enrolled participants with reasonable notice prior to the next cohort date to which they are enrolled. Continued participation in a programme following notification of changes shall be taken as acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore. Halverin and the participant will in the first instance seek to resolve any dispute informally by direct communication before initiating formal proceedings.
